Launchpad vs v0
v0 is the right choice if you live on Vercel and Next.js: one-click deploys, GitHub branches and pull requests, a public API, an MCP server, and thousands of community templates. It costs $30 a user to start and meters dollar credits at token cost, so a bad week can empty a wallet. Launchpad starts at $19, prices each turn up front, waives failed turns, and publishes anywhere. Pick v0 for the Vercel loop; pick Launchpad for the bill.

Where each one wins.
An edge is a judgement, not a score. The note under a row says why it fell the way it did.

- You deploy to Vercel and want Next.js and shadcn/ui by default.
- You want a public API or an MCP server to drive generation from elsewhere.
- You want thousands of community templates to fork.
- $30 a user is too much for a side project.
- You want the price of a turn before it runs, not a wallet that drains.
- You want to publish somewhere other than Vercel.
- You want the repository on the free plan.
Asked before switching.
- Is v0 free?
- There is a free plan with $5 of credits a month and a limit of seven messages a day. Launchpad's free plan is 30 credits a month with no daily limit.
- How much does v0 cost now?
- Plus is $30 per user per month and Business is $100. The $20 Premium tier stopped accepting new users in July 2026. Launchpad's Pro plan is $19.
- Does v0 charge for a generation that fails?
- Yes, at the token price of the model used. Launchpad waives any turn that errors.
- Can I use v0 without Vercel?
- You can export code, but the product is built around deploying to Vercel. Launchpad publishes to free static hosting and exports a repository you can deploy anywhere.
- Does v0 only generate Next.js?
- Next.js, React, Tailwind and shadcn/ui are first-class; Nuxt was added in March 2026. Launchpad generates Vite + React.
- Does Launchpad have an API or MCP server like v0?
- Not yet. v0's API reached general availability in August 2026 and its MCP server is live. Launchpad's MCP server is on the roadmap.
- Which has more templates?
- v0 by a wide margin: about 2,000 community templates against Launchpad's ten.
- Can I move a v0 project to Launchpad?
- Usually not without work. v0 projects are Next.js; Launchpad builds Vite + React. Components often port, pages and routing do not.
